Pups are born at about 13 kg and need to almost treble their weight before weening (at 3-4 weeks of age). They rest on land and are not great swimmers yet.

Pembrokeshire Seal Pups
We recovered the pup featured at the top of this page from Abercastle beach. Way up above the high tide line, this little guy was about 10kg under weight, dehydrated and tired. We took him in, rehydrated and fed him. Transferred to West Hatch, he's on his way to recovery and release.
Seal pupping season, August to November, we get many calls to seal pups in need of care or rescue. Some are injured, others abandoned or have lost thier mum. If needed we can usually recover the pup, keep them going for a few days with fish soup, fish and medication before being transported on to a larger facility for full rehabilitation and eventually release back into the wild. Many of the pups we rescue would not have survived without our intervention.
How can you help?
All our work is funded by your kind donations. Our team are all unpaid volunteers, donating their time and often fuel to rescue animals in distress. Your donations pay for fish, equipment and medication. Thankyou 🦭❤️
It's pupping season here in Pembrokeshire!
